When you are buying a baby car seat it’s important that you get the correct type. You must also start looking way before the baby is born, because when the baby arrives the car seat has to be there. Some hospitals don’t even let the baby leave unless you can show a car seat.
The baby car seat I always recommend is the kind that has a base that is buckled securely to the car seat. This kind is very easy to use and to move in and out of the car. You just lift it in the handle and can carry it around as you want. This is good since you can strap you child to the car seat in your house and then you just carry the child in it. The bad thing is that these seats are only good for transporting babies facing backwards up to the age of 1 year. After that you have to switch seats.
Another kind of baby car seats is convertible car seats. These seats should be placed backwards facing and are for babies who grew out the first infant seat. This seat you can have from 1 year. When the child is a bit older you can keep using it and just change the position so it faces forwards. You can use this kind of car seats up until the baby is 40 pounds. After that you have to move to a booster seat. The booster seat will allow the baby to use regular seat belt and lasts until the baby is 80 pounds. Here at Discount Baby Items we have our own list of the safest booster seats and baby car seats.
Don’t forget that all children below the age of 12 are supposed to be seated in the backseat. The safest place in the car is in the middle of the back seat. Never allow a child to be seated in the front seat.
